A region of Liptov – spreading from the Kriváň Mt. to the Small Fatra mountain range - is one of the most beautiful corners in Slovakia.

Liptov is surrounded by the largest mountains in Slovakia – the High Tatras, West Tatras and Choč Mountains in the north, the Low Tatras in the south, the Great Fatra in the west and the Poprad Basin in the east. The longest Slovak river Váh with its length of 43.5 km and its tributary Belá are flowing through it. Also the Liptovská Mara water resevoir is located in the area. Three caves open to public – Demänovská Ice Cave and Demänovská Cave of Liberty in Demänovská Valley and Stanišovská Cave in the village of Liptovský Ján reveal the mystery of underground beauty.

Visitors interested in history will certainly enjoy their time visiting castles such as Likava, Liptov Old Castle and a castle in the town of Liptovský Hrádok, as well as the Celtic settlement Havránok above the Liptovská Mara water reservoir, and the village of Vlkolínec which is preserved by UNESCO due to its typical architecture. The most sought-after places are also the Museum of Liptov Village in Pribylina, a wooden articular church in the village of Svätý Kríž, The Museum of Juraj Jánošík, The House of Photography and the Liptov Museum along with the Shepherd Museum which is unique within Europe.
